Y.E.L.L. and Southside Family School are working together, cultivating an educational food garden at the school. They will use the garden to learn about growing healthy food, beginning with healthy soil. During this first year (2010) of the garden, education will involve soil testing, soil building, cover-cropping, compost building, and garden design. The Y.E.L.L. kids will also be nurturing a new batch of baby chickens in their classrooms this spring as we prepare a coyote-proof chicken coop for their permanent home here at the farm.
